High Tech High North County (HTHNC) is a project-based charter school committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students grow academically, socially, and athletically. Our athletics program emphasizes teamwork, character development, and sportsmanship, providing students with the opportunity to compete and thrive both on and off the field.
Position Overview:
HTHNC is seeking passionate and committed individuals to lead one of our athletic teams as a Head Coach. This is a seasonal, stipend-based position ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about mentoring student-athletes, fostering a positive team culture, and building competitive programs that reflect the values of our school.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and lead practices, games, and team activities
Teach fundamental skills, strategies, and sportsmanship
Build strong relationships with student-athletes, families, and staff
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and the Athletic Director
Promote academic and personal growth alongside athletic development
Ensure a safe and respectful team environment
Coordinate with assistant coaches and school administration
Qualifications:
Prior coaching experience (preferably at the middle school or high school level)
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to model integrity, perseverance, and teamwork
CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain)
Must complete required background checks and clearance procedures
Available for practices and games typically held weekday afternoons/evenings
Preferred Qualifications:
CIF Coaching Certification (or willing to complete training)
Experience working with diverse student populations
Familiarity with project-based learning environments
